I hope that your Pinewood Derby cars are looking good! And if they're not quite ready (mine isn't either...) then you still have ten more days to finish. For anyone still needing a kit (including parents & siblings), please let me know ASAP so that we can get one to you.

Pinewood Derby Car Building Workshop - Saturday, March 8 (open between 10am-2pm)

We will hold a second car-building workshop next Satuday if you need help or tools to build your car. You can drop in anytime from 10am-2pm, but plan to give yourself at least an hour. Tools will be provided to cut your block of wood into the creative design you and/or your scout have in mind. Whether you're going for speed or style (or both!), it's up to you! 

Parents, siblings & friends are welcome to participate both in the workshop and the race though will need to pay $7 to cover the cost of their kit. Kits for registered scouts are covered by your Pack dues. (If you have not yet paid the $60 for the year to the Pack, please do so as soon as possible!) We will have car kits at the workshop. Many thanks to Obed for opening up his workshop and offering help to all the scouts!

When: Sat. Mar 8, 10am-2pm 

Where: Obed's workshop, 8210 Roanoke Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912. (Enter the apartment building and go to the bottom of the stairs.)

Bring: The Pinewood Derby kit you already received and your creativity! Also, $7/person for parents, siblings or friends who would like to make a car.

Please consult the attached Builder's Guide to make sure that your cars adhere to the rules, including regarding length (7 inches max), height (4.5 inches max), and weight (5.0 oz. max). As a reminder, parents should HELP their Scouts build cars, NOT build the cars themselves. The goal is to allow Scouts to enjoy the process of designing, building, and racing a car against his/her peers. The pride of "Doing Your Best" is more important than speed or beauty.

As this year our race falls on March 14 (3.14), we will have a special award category for the best design that incorporates the mathematical constant of Pi, and/or the food Pie. Call it the (Pi)newood Derby.

Pinewood Derby Race - Saturday, March 14, 10am-12pm

This year we will at a new location - Silver Spring United Methodist Church, hosted by our friends from Pack 275 and Troop 209. 

**As always, we need every family to Sign up to help in some way to make the event run well.**

What: Pinewood Derby 2025. (New to the Pinewood Derby? Check out this article for more info and tips!)

When: Saturday, March 14, 2025, 10am-12 noon.

Where:  Silver Spring United Methodist Church, 8900 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910 

Who: All scouts, parents, siblings and friends.

Why: To have fun and show off your creativity and skill!

Wear: Class A uniform.

Bring: Your completed car + some money for snacks provided by Pack 275. Also: your scout spirit!

Schedule: Arrive and check in your car between 9:45-10:15am. Races will commence as soon as we have everyone checked in. Like the Raingutter Regatta, cars will run in different heats with a Pack final at the end. Everyone will also vote for design awards.

The snow has finally retreated and it's starting to feel like Spring is around the corner. It's not just the warmer weather to look forward to though: we have several exciting events coming up in the next two weeks, plus our Pinewood Derby in March and some cool STEM adventures in the works!

Saturday, Feb 21, 1-3pm - Mission: Experiment @ NASA Goddard Space Center

Over the next month and a half we will have several opportunities to explore STEM topics, and for scouts to earn special STEM Nova Awards. These will require both some work at home as well as outings to explore science and technology in action. Our outing this Saturday fulfills a requirement for the "Out of This World" Nova Award, which explores outer space.

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Goddard Visitor Center for Mission: Experiment. This free, family-friendly event will focus on the theme “Heliophysics: The Sun-Earth Connection” this month. Heliophysics is the study of solar science and the Sun’s influence on Earth and the entire solar system.

Activities include:

– Experiment with a plasma ball and learn about changes in our atmosphere and on the Sun

– Get a feel for a stormy Sun: “see” some solar features with your hands

– Take home a flip-book to track a solar eruption called a coronal mass ejection

In addition, listen to scientist Dr. Cristian Ferradas Alva present on “Earth’s Magnetic Field as a Shield: Why It Matters”. During this talk, we will learn about one of Earth’s most underrated characteristics: its magnetic field. We will learn how it acts as a powerful shield from space hazards to enable life to flourish on Earth. We will also learn about space weather, what it is, and some of its positive and negative effects.

Wednesday, Feb 25, 6:30pm - Visit with Takoma Park City Council

We will wrap up our Citizenship adventures with a visit to the Takoma Park City Council before their next regular weekly business meeting. Ward 5 Councilmember Cara Honzak will give us a tour of the city hall, discuss what services the city offers and introduce us to the Mayor and other City Councilors. City residents (including scouts!) interested in testifying before the Council on a topic of importance to them are welcome to do so during the meeting, starting at 7:30pm. We are also welcome to stay and observe the proceedings, if desired, to see the city council in action.

Winter Weekend, Feb 27-March 1 - RSVP ASAP to Joe Knupp (joseph.knupp@gmail.com)

There are spots still available in Week 4 (February 27-March 1) of Laurel Highland Council's Winter Weekend.  This is one of the best winter activities in the Mid-Atlantic! I used to run this event years ago, and I can tell you it is absolutely loved by kids and parents.

Heritage Reservation is located around 3hrs from Takoma Park and is one of the premier camping spots on the East Coast. Built in 1981, it is very similar to Goshen and located on the top of the Laurel Highland mountain range. Snow is pretty much guaranteed and the lake will be frozen for ice skating and fishing.

We will be sleeping in centrally heated cabins on the lakeshore, each home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two bunkrooms in the basement (sleeps 24 total). There is one home still available for our pack!

Our home base during the day is called Pathfinder, a large lodge by the lake with a cafeteria, numerous group spaces and a game room.

This event is open to all family members and Den Chiefs, so whole families can join in.

Please let me know if you would like to attend by ASAP. I can't hold the house without advance payment. The cost is $120 per Youth and Adult and includes all activities, lodging and food. Once confirmed, I will coordinate payment.  We can arrange car pools for the drive up as needed.

SAVE THE DATE: Spring Break STEM Outing in Baltimore, April 6

While schools are closed over Spring Break, I wanted to offer the opportunity for scouts who are interested and available to earn the Tech Talk Nova Award, including an outing to see robotics in action with a tour of the BWI2 Amazon Fulfillment Center in Baltimore on Monday, April 6. Tickets have not been released yet for April, but I will need RSVPs in order to reserve them once they become available in the coming weeks. Tours begin at either 9am or 12pm and last 1.5 hours (limit 25/tour, ages 6+ only). After the tour we would plan time to work on some of the other requirements together and could potentially visit other sites in Baltimore.

I will be soliciting RSVPs soon. As long as we have a sufficient number of adults who can drive & accompany, not all scouts would require a parent (if you have to work, for example). But of course, you'll want to come, because it should be an fascinating.

Apologies for the late confirmation of details, but today is your first opportunity to work on building your car for our Pinewood Derby, to be held one month from today on March 14. If you aren't able to make it today, we will distribute car kits at our March 2 Den Meetings and may be able to host a second workshop on March 7 (or upon request).

A big high-five to all who took the time to serve the community this weekend in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whether at the big event this morning or elsewhere. CAMPING: Winter, Spring & Summer!

It's only January, but it's time to plan for upcoming camps! These are some of the best experiences in scouting. Please read below about Summer Camp opportunities as we need to start making reservations in the next month, and the priority deadline for financial aid is Feb 1.

Spring Pack Campout, Apr 24-26 @ Watkins Regional Park (*tentative location*)

Save the date for our Spring Pack Campout! Whether it's your first campout or your fiftieth, this is a great location with lots of fun activities. 

Special Request: If you know me, you know that I LOVE to sing. As part of my Wood Badge training "ticket" (a set of personal goals to improve our pack) I am going to assemble a Pack 205 songbook to use at our campfire programs and I need your help! In particular, I would like it to include fun songs that capture the diversity of our scout families, whether culturally or in a foreign language. Do you have some favorite camp or folk songs? Something you learned or enjoyed growing up? Whatever the language or style, if it can be easily sung as a group around the fire, please send me your suggestions! A song name, lyrics, YouTube video, etc. would all be helpful. I'd love a diverse mixture of songs, as well as Pack favorites that we should include in our canon.

Summer Camp Options - Day, Weekend or Week-long!

While anytime is a great time for scouting, Summer is when some of the most fun and vivid experiences come alive. Camperships are available to help cover up to half the cost of camp for those who qualify. We hope that everyone will consider at least one of the following (see also the attached flyers):

Day Camp - for rising Tigers through AOL (current K-4).

• Runs the first week of MCPS summer break - from Monday June 22 through Friday June 26th. Camp location has yet to be determined, but will likely be held either in the Colesville/Silver Spring area, or at the Gaithersburg Izaak Walton League property, where it has run previously. Day Camp early bird registration is open now and goes through April 15th. Details and registration here: https://ncacscouting.org/outdoor-adventures/day-camp/

• The Pack must provide leadership and adult supervision for the Scouts who attend camp, plus provide for transportation to and from camp each day. Every Pack must have at least one registered adult leader attend camp for every five Cub Scouts.  Additionally, every Tiger Cub (rising 1st grader) must be accompanied by their Tiger Partner.

• Please let me know if you may be interested in Day Camp as we need to organize as a Pack to go, if so.

Resident Weekends & Bear Week at Camp Snyder (Haymarket, VA) -  for rising Tigers through AOL (current K-4).

• This allows younger scouts to get all the elements of Summer Camp in a high intensity fun filled weekend. Several weekends are available, including a special week just for rising Bears (current Wolves/2nd grade).

Camp Ross @ Goshen Scout Reservation (Goshen, VA) - for rising Webelos & AOL (current 3rd & 4th graders)  

• The premier experience for Cub Scouts is a weeklong camp with loads of fun and new adventures. We have brought our Webelos & AOLs here for the past five years and they will tell you what a blast it is. (Water trampoline, anyone?) This year, we plan to continue partnering with our nearby Packs 275 and 23 to go during Week 3 (July 5-11).

• We encourage all eligible scouts to attend, along with several parents. Not every scout needs a parent, however we need 2-3 adults to accompany them. You can hear me and other leaders talk about Camp Ross in this video.

Pack Family Campouts

• Each summer, we have a low-key campout each month where the entire family can come, play together and enjoy the outdoors. We have a great lineup of sites reserved this year, so save the date!

• June 19-21 - Sandy Point State Park, with a private beach on the Chesapeake Bay at the foot of the Bay Bridge

• July 17-19 - Assateague State Park - Camping at the beach + ponies!

• Sept 4-7 - Labor Day Family Camp @ Goshen (Camp Olmsted) - all the fun of summer camp, but for the whole family! 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

As someone whose kids are now all in middle and high school, trust me - the years pass quickly, and the opportunities to make indelible memories with your children are fleeting if you don't seize them. CAMP IS FOR ADULTS TOO! It's some of the most fun I have every year, and none of it can happen with YOU.

• While one of the greatest gifts of scouting is the independence it builds in our kids, at the Cub level, there is still significant opportunity and need for parental involvement. Please plan your work schedules so that you can be available to support some of these camp experiences. Regardless of your level of experience, you will able to contribute. I am happy to answer any questions and can promise that you won't regret it.

On a pack level, we are also required to have at least one adult who has had outdoors (BALOO) training in order to go on our own campouts. Currently, Jacky and Obed are our two BALOO trained leaders, but they will be moving on with their kids in the next year and a half. We need at least two more parents to get BALOO trained to ensure we can keep camping into the future! The next training session is the first weekend of May. Please see the details below and let me know if you are interested. The Pack can reimburse the course registration cost, if desired.

Montgomery County Outdoor Leader Skills (May 2-3, 2026)

The Seneca district is hosting both Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) for Scout leaders or Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) for Cub Scout leaders.

These courses are designed to help Adult Scouters with skills related to the Scouting America’s outdoor program. The training will be in Gaithersburg at the National Izaak Walton League location. Registration is available here.

I just received word that the MLK service event scheduled for the afternoon of January 19 in North Bethesda is being canceled and combined with the morning event in Silver Spring.

So there will only be one event from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza. If you have not yet reserved tickets for your family, please do so promptly at https://mcacmlk2026.eventbrite.com.

More details are below, including additional opportunities to donate stamps and for adults to sign up to donate blood (something I do regularly and highly encourage!).

This year’s MLK Day of Service is being held in partnership with the Montgomery County (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Participants will be able to take part in on-site service projects during the event, and we are also excited to offer several additional, optional opportunities to serve and engage throughout the day. Some of these activities may require pre-event preparation or separate registration, as noted below.

Postage Stamp Drive
Please join us in supporting women incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility by bringing with you a book or two of Forever postage stamps.

We are collecting and providing stamps to support the women in their ability to correspond with and stay connected to family and friends. Our goal is to collect 2,400 books of stamps. Thank you!

 Donate Blood
The need for blood donations is always high, and you can help. The Children’s National BLOOD MOBILE will be on-site during the MLK Day of Service. Please click here to register in advance to donate blood. Thank you!

Health Fair and Discussions
Before or after participating in a community service project, we encourage you to visit our health fair for information and free health screenings. There will also be presentations by our health fair partners to provide you with up-to-date information about key health issues.

Nuestra excursión de este sábado cumple con un requisito para el Premio Nova "Out of This World", que explora el espacio exterior.

Únase a nosotros el sábado 21 de febrero, de 1 a 3 p.m., en el Goddard Visitor Center para Mission: Experiment. Este evento gratuito y familiar se centrará este mes en el tema "Heliofísica: La conexión Sol-Tierra". La heliofísica es el estudio de la ciencia solar y la influencia del Sol en la Tierra y en todo el sistema solar.

Las actividades incluyen:

• Experimentar con una bola de plasma y aprender sobre los cambios en nuestra atmósfera y en el Sol.

• Sentir un Sol tormentoso: "ver" algunas características solares con las manos.

• Llevarse a casa un folioscopio (flip-book) para seguir una erupción solar llamada eyección de masa coronal.

Además, escuche al científico Dr. Cristian Ferradas Alva presentar sobre "El campo magnético de la Tierra como escudo: Por qué es importante". Durante esta charla, aprenderemos sobre una de las características más subestimadas de la Tierra: su campo magnético. Veremos cómo actúa como un poderoso escudo contra los peligros espaciales para permitir que la vida florezca en la Tierra. También aprenderemos sobre el clima espacial, qué es y algunos de sus efectos positivos y negativos.

Miércoles, 25 de feb, 6:30pm - Visita al Concejo Municipal de Takoma Park 

Concluiremos nuestras aventuras de Ciudadanía con una visita al Concejo Municipal de Takoma Park antes de su próxima reunión semanal de negocios. La concejal del Distrito 5, Cara Honzak, nos dará un recorrido por el ayuntamiento, hablará sobre los servicios que ofrece la ciudad y nos presentará a la Alcaldesa y otros concejales. Los residentes de la ciudad (¡incluyendo a los scouts!) interesados en testificar ante el Concejo sobre un tema de importancia para ellos pueden hacerlo durante la reunión, que comienza a las 7:30pm. También podemos quedarnos y observar los procedimientos, si lo desean, para ver al concejo municipal en acción.

Fin de Semana de Invierno, 27 de feb al 1 de mar - RSVP CUANTO ANTES a Joe Knupp (joseph.knupp@gmail.com)

Todavía hay espacios disponibles en la Semana 4 (27 de febrero al 1 de marzo) del Fin de Semana de Invierno del Laurel Highland Council. ¡Esta es una de las mejores actividades de invierno en el Atlántico Medio! Yo solía dirigir este evento hace años y les puedo decir que es absolutamente amado por niños y padres.

Heritage Reservation está ubicada a unas 3 horas de Takoma Park y es uno de los mejores lugares para acampar en la costa este. Construido en 1981, es muy similar a Goshen y está ubicado en la cima de la cordillera montañosa de Laurel Highland. La nieve está prácticamente garantizada y el lago estará congelado para patinar sobre hielo y pescar.

Dormiremos en cabañas con calefacción central a la orilla del lago; cada casa tiene tres dormitorios, dos baños y dos dormitorios con literas en el sótano (capacidad para 24 personas en total). ¡Todavía hay una casa disponible para nuestro pack!

Nuestra base durante el día se llama Pathfinder, un gran albergue junto al lago con cafetería, numerosos espacios grupales y una sala de juegos.

Este evento está abierto a todos los miembros de la familia y Den Chiefs, por lo que familias enteras pueden unirse.

Por favor, avísenme si desean asistir lo antes posible. No puedo reservar la casa sin el pago por adelantado. RESERVA LA FECHA: Excursión STEM de vacaciones de primavera en Baltimore, 6 de abril 

Mientras las escuelas estén cerradas durante las vacaciones de primavera, quería ofrecer la oportunidad a los scouts interesados y disponibles de ganar el Premio Nova Tech Talk, que incluye una excursión para ver la robótica en acción con un tour por el BWI2 Amazon Fulfillment Center en Baltimore el lunes 6 de abril. Las entradas aún no se han habilitado para abril, pero necesitaré confirmaciones (RSVPs) para reservarlas una vez que estén disponibles en las próximas semanas. Los tours comienzan a las 9 am o 12 pm y duran 1.5 horas (límite de 25 personas por tour, solo para mayores de 6 años). Después del tour, planeamos dedicar tiempo a trabajar juntos en algunos de los otros requisitos y potencialmente visitar otros sitios en Baltimore.

Estaré solicitando confirmaciones pronto. Siempre que tengamos un número suficiente de adultos que puedan conducir y acompañar, no todos los scouts requerirán la presencia de un padre (si tienen que trabajar, por ejemplo). Pero, por supuesto, querrán venir, porque promete ser fascinante.

Disculpas por la tardía confirmación de detalles, pero hoy es su primera oportunidad para trabajar en la construcción de su auto para nuestro Pinewood Derby, que se llevará a cabo dentro de un mes a partir de hoy, el 14 de marzo. Si no pueden asistir hoy, distribuiremos kits de autos en nuestras reuniones de Den del 2 de marzo y es posible que podamos organizar un segundo taller el 7 de marzo (o a petición).

Taller de construcción de autos de Pinewood Derby - sábado, 14 de febrero (abierto entre 10am-2pm)

¡Vengan y construyan sus autos para el Pinewood Derby! Pueden pasar en cualquier momento de 10am-2pm, pero planeen dedicarse al menos una hora. Se proporcionarán herramientas para cortar su bloque de madera siguiendo el diseño creativo que usted y/o su scout tengan en mente. Ya sea que busquen velocidad o estilo (¡o ambos!), ¡depende de ustedes!

Los padres, hermanos y amigos son bienvenidos a participar tanto en el taller como en la carrera, aunque deberán pagar $7 para cubrir el costo de su kit. Los kits para los scouts registrados están cubiertos por las cuotas de su Pack. (Si aún no han pagado los $60 anuales al Pack, ¡háganlo lo antes posible!) Un gran aplauso para todos los que se tomaron el tiempo para servir a la comunidad este fin de semana en honor al Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ya sea en el gran evento de esta mañana o en cualquier otro lugar. Se pueden escuchar los valores scouts reflejados en las palabras de MLK: “Si puedo ayudar a alguien a su paso, si puedo animar a alguien con una palabra o una canción, entonces mi vida no habrá sido en vano…”

Petición Especial: Si me conocen, saben que me ENCANTA cantar. Como parte de mi "boleto" de entrenamiento Wood Badge (un conjunto de metas personales para mejorar nuestro pack), voy a armar un cancionero del Pack 205 para usar en nuestros programas de fogata ¡y necesito su ayuda! En particular, me gustaría que incluyera canciones divertidas que capturen la diversidad de nuestras familias scouts, ya sea culturalmente o en un idioma extranjero. ¿Tienen algunas canciones favoritas de campamento o folclóricas? ¿Algo que aprendieron o disfrutaron mientras crecían? Sea cual sea el idioma o el estilo, si se puede cantar fácilmente en grupo alrededor del fuego, ¡por favor envíenme sus sugerencias! El nombre de la canción, la letra, un video de YouTube, etc., serían de gran ayuda. Me encantaría una mezcla diversa de canciones, así como las favoritas del Pack que deberíamos incluir en nuestro repertorio.

Opciones de Campamento de Verano - ¡De un día, de fin de semana o de una semana de duración!

Si bien cualquier momento es excelente para el escultismo, el verano es cuando cobran vida algunas de las experiencias más divertidas y vívidas. Hay becas de campamento (camperships) disponibles para ayudar a cubrir hasta la mitad del costo del campamento para quienes califiquen. Esperamos que todos consideren al menos una de las siguientes opciones (ver también los folletos adjuntos):

Day Camp (Campamento de Día) - para quienes pasan a Tigers hasta AOL (actualmente de Kínder a 4º grado).

• Se lleva a cabo la primera semana de las vacaciones de verano de MCPS, del lunes 22 de junio al viernes 26 de junio. La ubicación del campamento aún no se ha determinado, pero probablemente se llevará a cabo en el área de Colesville/Silver Spring, o en la propiedad de la Izaak Walton League en Gaithersburg, donde se ha realizado anteriormente. La inscripción anticipada (early bird) para el campamento de día ya está abierta y dura hasta el 15 de abril. Detalles e inscripción aquí.

• El Pack debe proporcionar liderazgo y supervisión adulta para los Scouts que asistan al campamento, además de proporcionar transporte hacia y desde el campamento cada día. Cada Pack debe tener al menos un líder adulto registrado por cada cinco Cub Scouts. Además, cada Tiger Cub (que pasa a 1er grado) debe estar acompañado por su socio Tiger (padre o tutor).

• Por favor, háganme saber si podrían estar interesados en el Campamento de Día, ya que necesitamos organizarnos como Pack para asistir, si es el caso.

Fin de semanas & semana de osos en Camp Snyder (Haymarket, VA) - para quienes pasan a Tigers hasta AOL (actualmente de Kínder a 4º grado).

• Esto permite que los scouts más jóvenes disfruten de todos los elementos de un campamento de verano en un fin de semana lleno de diversión de alta intensidad. Hay varios fines de semana disponibles, incluida una semana especial solo para quienes pasan a Bears (actualmente Wolves/2º grado).

Camp Ross @ Goshen Scout Reservation (Goshen, VA) - para quienes pasan a Webelos y AOL (actualmente estudiantes de 3º y 4º grado)

• La experiencia principal para los Cub Scouts es un campamento de una semana con muchísima diversión y nuevas aventuras. Hemos traído a nuestros Webelos y AOL aquí durante los últimos cinco años y ellos les dirán lo bien que se pasa. (¿Alguien quiere un trampolín acuático?) Este año, planeamos continuar asociándonos con nuestros Packs cercanos 275 y 23 para ir durante la Semana 3 (del 5 al 11 de julio).

• Animamos a todos los scouts elegibles a asistir, junto con varios padres. No todos los scouts necesitan a un padre, sin embargo, necesitamos de 2 a 3 adultos que los acompañen. Pueden escucharme a mí y a otros líderes hablar sobre Camp Ross en este video.

Campamentos Familiares del Pack

Cada verano, tenemos un campamento sencillo cada mes donde toda la familia puede venir, jugar junta y disfrutar del aire libre. ¡Tenemos una excelente lista de sitios reservados este año, así que reserven la fecha!

• 19-21 de junio - Sandy Point State Park, con una playa privada en la Bahía de Chesapeake al pie del Bay Bridge.

• 17-19 de julio - Assateague State Park - ¡Acampando en la playa + ponis!

• 4-7 de sep - Campamento Familiar del Día del Trabajo @ Goshen (Camp Olmsted) - ¡toda la diversión del campamento de verano, pero para toda la familia!

SE NECESITAN VOLUNTARIOS 

Como alguien cuyos hijos ya están todos en la escuela secundaria (middle y high school), créanme: los años pasan rápido y las oportunidades de crear recuerdos imborrables con sus hijos son fugaces si no se aprovechan. ¡EL CAMPAMENTO TAMBIÉN ES PARA ADULTOS! Es de lo más divertido que hago cada año, y nada de esto puede suceder sin USTEDES.

• Si bien uno de los mayores regalos del escultismo es la independencia que genera en nuestros hijos, a nivel de Cub, todavía existe una oportunidad y necesidad significativa de participación de los padres. Por favor, planifiquen sus horarios de trabajo para que puedan estar disponibles para apoyar algunas de estas experiencias de campamento. Independientemente de su nivel de experiencia, podrá contribuir. Estaré encantado de responder cualquier pregunta y puedo prometerles que no se arrepentirán.

A nivel de pack, también se requiere que tengamos al menos un adulto que haya tenido entrenamiento al aire libre (BALOO) para poder ir a nuestros propios campamentos. Actualmente, Jacky y Obed son nuestros dos líderes entrenados en BALOO, pero ellos avanzarán con sus hijos en el próximo año y medio. ¡Necesitamos que al menos dos padres más se entrenen en BALOO para asegurar que podamos seguir acampando en el futuro! La próxima sesión de entrenamiento es el primer fin de semana de mayo. Vean los detalles a continuación y háganme saber si están interesados. El Pack puede reembolsar el costo de inscripción al curso, si lo desean.

Montgomery County Outdoor Leader Skills (2-3 de mayo de 2026) El distrito de Seneca organizará tanto las Habilidades para Líderes al Aire Libre (IOLS) para líderes de Scouts como la Orientación Básica para Líderes Adultos al Aire Libre (BALOO) para líderes de Cub Scouts. Estos cursos están diseñados para ayudar a los adultos Scouters con habilidades relacionadas con el programa al aire libre de Scouting America. El Día de Servicio en honor a Martin Luther King Jr. de este año se celebra en colaboración con el Capítulo de Exalumnas del Condado de Montgomery (MD) de la hermandad Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Los participantes podrán participar en proyectos de servicio en el lugar del evento, y también nos complace ofrecer varias oportunidades adicionales y opcionales para servir y participar a lo largo del día. Algunas de estas actividades pueden requerir preparación previa o inscripción por separado, como se indica a continuación.

Campaña de Recaudación de Sellos Postales

Únase a nosotros para apoyar a las mujeres encarceladas en el Centro Correccional del Condado de Montgomery trayendo uno o dos talonarios de sellos postales.

Estamos recolectando y proporcionando sellos para que las mujeres puedan comunicarse y mantenerse en contacto con sus familiares y amigos. Nuestra meta es recolectar 2400 talonarios de sellos. ¡Gracias!
